Time to reflect

2021 time to reflect - illustration - greenhaus prints - Norfolk prints

Another year has come and gone, and whilst I am not one for making New Year’s resolutions, it’s hard not to take this opportunity to reflect on the last 12 months.

Of course one of the major achievements of 2020 for me has to be starting Greenhaus Prints! I certainly did not plan for that to be the case, although it is something I have wanted to do for a long time and I am so pleased I finally had the courage to do it.

I guess it was a combination of having extra time on my hands whilst working from home in lockdown and getting a bit fed up with having this dream and not doing anything about it!

I set aside one week to launch the business and try to get as much done as I could. I didn’t have a background in website development or professional use of social media, so it was a steep learning curve. I absorbed as much material and information as I could in advance and identified the products and services I felt best fit with what I wanted to achieve. I took the plunge and decided to set up a website to sell my prints alongside trying to build a social media presence.

I can often find it difficult to overcome analysis paralysis so actually starting it was a huge step for me.

Since then, I have learnt a lot and feel that I have found a style which I love. It has certainly been challenging at times and with my other commitments it was always going to be a slower process, but I am so grateful for everyone who has engaged with my posts and become followers.  The support has been overwhelming and has really encouraged me to carry on - so thank you!

I started with 10 prints and now have 32 prints on the website! Being accountable for regularly posting content and keeping the website fresh has also been great for driving me to produce more artwork than I would have ordinarily.

Looking to the year ahead, I am planning to focus on producing more travel prints. I particularly enjoy slightly lesser known places or highlighting a smaller area within a larger town/city.

With the number of prints on the website increasing, I would also like to take a look at how the website is organised so you can find what you are searching for more easily.

A slightly bigger project will be to offer framed prints. Technically, I can do this now, but I need to tweak the website layout to make this work. I have a specific vision and the default is just not cutting it! Fingers crossed I will find a way this year so watch this space!

Let me know in the comments what travel print (or other!) you would like to see next!
